Paying Attention to God

Listen to me! Pay attention! How often have we heard these phrases in school as students? Even as adults, we find that people want our attention. Have you been shopping lately? Even when shopping, sometimes we hear "Attention Shoppers!"

Sometimes, God tries to get our attention, but our lives are so noisy. We have schedules to consult, appointments to keep, family matters to address, and the clatter of noise is deafening. That's why it is so important in our daily rush to set aside some time to spend in quiet contemplation and prayer. We need to be still and quiet to listen for God's words to us. God speaks through Scripture and in the quietness of our minds and hearts, and through those moments of sanctuary, gives us inner strength to face the outward struggles.

How are you listening for God to speak in your life? Are you paying attention to God?
