Holy Week

John 12:23-24: "Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit."

This is spring and a time for planting. We love harvesting, but do we necessarily love planting? Planting takes hard work. It takes much sweat and effort to prepare the ground and get it ready to be just the right environment for seeds to grow. Then, when the seeds are planted, if all the work has been done properly, with the right food of vitamins, water and sunshine, the seeds will grow into a beautiful plant bearing much fruit ... or beans or flowers or whatever we have planted.

Springtime is also the time of Easter. As we walk through these days of Holy Week, we prepare the grounds of our hearts for the seed that will be planted on Good Friday - the ultimate sacrificial death of our Lord Jesus Christ for the sin of all humanity. If we have prepared our hearts, and if we welcome the seed of Christ's death, then a beautiful plant will sprout forth on Easter Sunday, bringing new life and bearing much fruit.

God bless you as you prepare for Easter this week.
